Your First Visit

During your first visit, we will be listening. Whatever they are, we want to hear YOUR dental concerns and goals first.  Then we can work together to make sure you achieve good oral health, comfortable function and an attractive smile for a lifetime.

What to Expect

If you filled out and submitted the online New Patient Forms then we’ll just need to make a copy of your insurance card when you get to the office.

Dr Cribbs will go over your health and dental history and make sure she understands your concerns and goals. Then she’ll will view your x-rays and perform a complete oral examination which can identify conditions such as tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, joint and bite problems. She will review her findings, discuss any treatment you may need and answer any questions you may have.

Your teeth cleaning may be performed at your first visit or might be scheduled for a follow-up visit determined by the results of your exams and screenings. Every effort will be made to complete your cleaning right away at your first appointment.

Your first appointment will take about 1 hour.  Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What to Bring

To make your visit as pleasant and brief as possible, there are a few things you should bring with you.

Consider making a list of things you want to discuss with Dr. Cribbs. That way when your in the big chair under the light those questions won’t flutter away like a fall leaf in the breeze.

If you’ve had dental x-rays in the last six months, you can ask for them to be sent to our office – this will keep your exposure to a minimum.

Please bring your dental insurance card, even if you have given us your information online or over the phone.  Having a copy in your file reduces errors.

If you have a medical condition which requires premedication, please be sure to request a prescription prior to your appointment, or if you are unsure, please contact the office.

If you received forms in the mail and filled them out, don’t forget to bring them with you.

If you have tooth pain, a broken tooth, or any other dental emergency, please call the office.   In most cases, we are able to to get you in the same day.

Why not just e-mail us with an emergency appointment request?  Well, we check our e-mail several times a day but we don’t want you to wait if you’re in pain.   We prefer to talk to you now so we can find the soonest available spot in our schedule or even punch a hole in that schedule so we can see what’s going on.  If your not in pain, but are aware of a tooth problem and you prefer e-mail, go ahead and use our Request an Appointment form and we will get you in as soon as possible.

We accept most insurance and we are happy to process any dental benefit paperwork for you.  You might be wondering, “am I covered and can I come to your office?”  We would LOVE to see you and your family members.  Give us call and we will do a free courtesy check on your eligibility and benefits.

Interesting Fact: Did you know that in 1960 the annual limit of dental “insurance” was $l000-$l500. Over 45 years later it is still $1000-$1500!! All aspects of our society have increased in costs, but the dental insurance industry has not kept up. It has become known as a “dental assistance program” and there are many creative options to assist you in treatment.

While payment is due at the time of service, if you have dental insurance, you will be asked for only your estimated co-payment and any deductibles.

For your convenience, we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.  After your dental needs are diagnosed, our team will review your fees beyond insurance and create affordable payment plans for you.  Plus, we offer a monthly payment option through CareCredit or The Lending Club, which involves little or no finance charges.

Advantages to using CareCredit / The Lending Club

  • Simple to use
  • Near instant response for patients
  • Interest free financing options
  • Makes it easy to budget dental needs for your household
